Christmas is coming. This evening we put up the Christmas tree at home. Last night was the staff Christmas party for work. This year's party theme was Las Vegas. We had plenty of Elvis impersonators and Rat Pack gangsters. I went as a Package Tour Punter, dressed in a loud Hawaiian shirt and baggy shorts, complete with knee-length white socks and sandals.
Yesterday I collected our passports, complete with Russian visas. It's hard to believe we're really going to Russia for Christmas. We'll be living our very own Christmas card experience. The tour promises sleigh rides and ice-skating on frozen rivers for Christmas Day.
I've been reading reports that St Petersburg has already had snow. While we've had no snow in London winter has definitely arrived. After a week of wind and rain the trees have finally lost the last of their leaves. Our street looks as bleak and barren as it did the day we moved in.
