Street art
Everywhere we ventured in Perth we came across a quirky statue. It seems that the city has embarked upon a major street art program. Here are just a few of the many pieces we saw. My favourite was a family of life-size bronze kangaroos drinking at a water hole.
The last photo below immoralises two Englishmen who first discovered gold in Western Austrlia. They sit outside the Perth Mint. Their discovery in 1885 marked the first of Australia's many gold rushes. Today, at least 12% of the world’s gold is still mined in Australia, most of it in Western Australia. More about this topic shortly.
