A taste for heights

It's time for a few elevated views of London. Over the years, Garry and I have checked out observation decks at The Shard, Horizon 22 and Battersea Lift 109. This week, I added another viewpoint to the list and revisited one we explored decades ago.  Garry stayed home.

First up was the rooftop garden at One New Change. This new multi-storey complex offers iconic views of St Paul’s Cathedral. The glass elevator ride to the roof in and of itself was worth the excursion. It was then off to Skygarden, only to discover it was closed for maintenance.

However, all was not lost. I decided to visit the nearby Monument and climb 311 spiralling steps for a closer look at its gilded crown of flames and an iconic view of London Tower Bridge. According to my blog, I last climbed Monument in October 2006. Where on Earth did the last twenty years go?

Dinner tonight was traditional fish and chips at Rock & Sole Plaice.  We stumbled upon this establishment on our first night in town and decided we had to give it a try. After all, it's been serving Fish and Chips since 1871. We ordered all the traditional trimmings served as sampling dishes. This included mushy peas, curry sauce, vinegar, and pickled eggs.
