Dinner and a show

Liz Benson and I treated ourselves to a decadent evening out last night. We started with an early pre-theatre dinner at Aria, then headed to the Opera House to see My Fair Lady at the Joan Sutherland Theatre. It's been years since I last dined at Aria.  The food was as reliable as always, and the restaurant gave us the best table in the house.  We enjoyed an uninterrupted view of Circular Quay and the Opera House while dining on lamb and coral trout.

The show was excellent. I loved the set design. Our stall seats in the fourth row, just off centre, gave us the best view of the energy on stage, along with a glimpse of the orchestra pit below. I hadn't appreciated how many popular songs came from this production, including "Get Me to the Church on Time" and "Wouldn't It Be Loverly?" We finished our evening with a nightcap in the lobby bar at the InterContinental Hotel, another venue I haven't visited for years. Liz and Adam also brought down the kiln-fired bowls we created during our last visit to their place up north.

This evening Garry and I fly out to Indonesia. We'll spend a night in Bali at the airport hotel before flying first thing tomorrow to Labuan Bajo for a three-day cruise around the island of Flores. Stay tuned for images of Komodo Dragons in the wild.  We'll finally fly back to Bali to "flop-and-drop" by the pool at the Sofitel in Nusa Dua.
